Growing up, I played every sport imaginable. Shortly after starting, I\u2019d quit each one. As a young member of the LGBTQ2+ community, giving up was something I was all too familiar with. I would like to preface this by saying I am a cis white gay male that understands my privilege and know I have it easier than most. However, in my youth, I always tried to blend in, hiding parts of who I was, and still am. This ultimately led me to give up possibilities of who I could be.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is important that we radically accept ourselves and others; and Pride is the ultimate expression of that love and acceptance in our communities. Rain City Ultimate Club has been a space for LGBTQ2+ people to feel safe, gain skills, confidence, and lasting friendships all while playing Ultimate Frisbee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the exception of last year, we have submitted teams of all skill levels to the Vancouver Ultimate League and RCUC has hosted 4 consecutive tournaments over the weekend of Vancouver Pride. This event has drawn nearly 100 players from all over Canada and the US. The pride tournaments have been an integral part of sharing RCUC\u2019s message of acceptance with members in the Ultimate community both local and throughout North America. In addition, we have submitted our teams to past tournaments in Victoria, Bellingham, Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and we hope to have the opportunities to travel as a team again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we find people that accept us for who we are, we create space for our natural selves to show. If I may address my RCUC teammates who may be reading this, you are extraordinary and bring so much spirit to the game and to life. It is an honour to be a part of this team and this community, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En grandissant, j\u2019ai pratiqu\u00e9 tous les sports imaginables. Peu de temps apr\u00e8s avoir commenc\u00e9, j\u2019abandonnais chaque fois. En tant que jeune membre de la communaut\u00e9 LGBTQ2+, abandonner \u00e9tait quelque chose que je ne connaissais que trop bien. Je voudrais commencer ceci en mentionnant que je suis un homme gay blanc cis qui comprend mon privil\u00e8ge et sait que je l\u2019ai plus facile que la plupart. Cependant, dans ma jeunesse, j\u2019ai toujours essay\u00e9 de me fondre, cachant des parties de ce que j\u2019\u00e9tais et de ce que je suis toujours. Cela m\u2019a finalement amen\u00e9 \u00e0 renoncer aux possibilit\u00e9s de qui je pouvais \u00eatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Il est important de s\u2019accepter radicalement nous-m\u00eames et d\u2019accepter les autres; et la fiert\u00e9 est l\u2019expression ultime de cet amour et de cette acceptation dans nos communaut\u00e9s. Rain City Ultimate Club a \u00e9t\u00e9 un espace permettant aux personnes LGBTQ2 + de se sentir en s\u00e9curit\u00e9, d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir des comp\u00e9tences, de la confiance et des amiti\u00e9s durables tout en jouant au ultimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00c0 l\u2019exception de l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, nous avons particip\u00e9 avec des \u00e9quipes de tous les niveaux \u00e0 la Vancouver Ultimate League et RCUC a accueilli 4 tournois cons\u00e9cutifs au cours de la fin de semaine de Vancouver Pride. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement a attir\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de 100 joueurs de partout au Canada et aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Les tournois de la fiert\u00e9 ont fait partie int\u00e9grante du partage du message d\u2019acceptation du RCUC avec les membres de la communaut\u00e9 du ultimate, tant au niveau local qu\u2019\u00e0 travers l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord. De plus, nous avons soumis par la pass\u00e9 nos \u00e9quipes \u00e0 des tournois \u00e0 Victoria, Bellingham, Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles et nous esp\u00e9rons avoir l\u2019occasion de voyager \u00e0 nouveau en \u00e9quipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lorsque nous trouvons des gens qui nous acceptent pour ce que nous sommes, nous cr\u00e9ons un espace pour que notre moi naturel se montre. Si je peux m\u2019adresser \u00e0 mes co\u00e9quipiers du RCUC qui lisent peut-\u00eatre ceci, vous \u00eates extraordinaires et apportez l\u2019esprit au jeu et \u00e0 la vie. C\u2019est un honneur de faire partie de cette \u00e9quipe et de cette communaut\u00e9, et j\u2019ai h\u00e2te de voir ce que l\u2019avenir nous r\u00e9serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
